Hi, I’m Jaakko from Finland, and these are my websites, where you can find my ongoing creative projects, like J.A Films, my current independent film project.
More about me:
I am a creative person in many ways—a drummer, DIY renovator, and someone with a passion for animation, film, and music. I think I was around 10 years old when I made my first animations using Macromedia Flash and Director, and ever since, I’ve been captivated by the world of storytelling. One of my earliest projects? After getting a ticket for not wearing a helmet on my scooter in middle school, I created a series of animations poking fun at the police officer who gave it to me. That animation was a huge success at the time. Storytelling has always been my way of expressing myself.
Music has also played a major role in shaping how I see and tell stories. Through creating music, I discovered how narratives can unfold not just visually but also through sound and rhythm. This has given me a broader, more dynamic perspective on storytelling.
These days, I’m diving back into animation, inspired by how new AI tools have made the production process more accessible and less time-consuming. Balancing my creative work with my self-sufficient lifestyle—including cutting down trees and chopping logs—these tools allow me to continue pursuing what has always been my passion: creating animations and films.
In recent years, I’ve developed a deep interest in Finnish mythology and the so-called “secret history of Finland”—the lost kingdom and its glorious people. These themes strongly influence my latest films, where you’ll often find a deep connection to nature, as well as elements of myth, folklore, and more.
Working with AI in 2024:
When I first began exploring AI technology, I was skeptical. Does AI stand for Alien Invasion? Would it take control of us? Will it make us even lazier? Take over the entire world? Will it ruin art as we know it? (Honestly, some of these fears still linger!) But I’ve started to see AI tools as an opportunity—a powerful resource for storytelling, sharing visions, and elevating production quality, especially on small budgets. And if this really is an Alien Invasion, I think we’ve already lost that battle, so why not play with the new tools they’ve given us to keep us busy, huh?
I’m experimenting with AI in various ways, from brainstorming film scripts to creating and animating images and generating voiceover narrations. It’s an exciting time, and I’m eager to see how far these tools can take creative work now and in the future.
